Full-Service Design: Furnishings (3 Room Minimum)

Have a new home with old furniture that doesn’t fit your new floorplan? Just want a change or refresh? We’ll work with you to pinpoint and solidify both your budget and style by drawing up a firm furniture list and creating conceptual mood boards that reflect your dreams for your space.

Once we have a plan in place, we provide you furniture and decor options that meet your every need for your space, with no detail, accessory, or lighting fixture left out. After you pick out your favorites, the Quartz & Bone team will take care of all of the purchasing and delivery, and finally, we’ll bring everything into your home for that final reveal that design TV show dreams are made of!

Full-Service Design & Consultation: Remodel (Kitchen or 2 Room Minimum)

Sometimes your space just isn’t quite right and your daily life and movements are hampered by the layout of your home. With our firm’s experience, and Beth’s training in Interior Architecture, we will work with you on your remodel — including whole home as well as smaller kitchen and bath remodels — to make sure that your home flows the way that you do: effortlessly and full of function and beautiful elements.

From the initial layouts, to material and finish selection, to bringing in trusted trades-workers when needed (including architects, engineers, and contractors), our team will make sure you have every piece of information you need to make the best decisions for your home.

Full-Service Design & Consultation: New Construction

Building a new house can be stressful! Architects and contractors are absolutely brilliant, but a trained designer will spot issues and bring up ideas that those two experts might miss. An interior designer really rounds out the trifecta of specialists for new construction projects. Think of it as a tripod — with three “legs”, your project will stand strong and firm.

Our team will work alongside your architect and contractor to help with details such as selecting plumbing fixtures and appliances, as well as finishes and materials. Our aim is to make sure that your space is cohesive, functional, practical (after all, no one likes red wine stains on a new countertop!), and beautiful. Quartz & Bone has worked with different teams of architects, builders, and contractors nation-wide on new construction homes, with spectacular results every time.

When should I start planning my project?

The short answer is that smaller projects generally take less time, while larger ones will take more time. However, a lot of factors can affect project length including changes to the scope of work, indecision, and unforeseen events (ranging from items arriving damaged to natural disasters).

We generally recommend allowing 4-6 weeks from project kickoff to finalizing the design concept and layout for your project. From there, about 4 weeks for any selections (materials, fixtures, furniture, etc) to be made, approved, and ordered. Both construction and furniture lead-times can range anywhere from 1-6 months.

For a smaller project (a small remodel or 3 room furnishings project), aim to start at least 4-6 months before any hard deadline. For larger projects, you should allow at least 6 months up to a year, if not more for whole home construction and furnishings.

I already have an architect, why would I need an interior designer?

Architects tend to look at things from a birds-eye perspective, while an interior designer or interior architect will look at things from an interior 3D perspective. We also prioritize how people move through a space and function within it, while an architect might prioritize making sure that the layout and plans conform to construction requirements and codes. Working in tandem with an architect, we can guarantee that your home will not only pass permitting and inspection, but will ultimately pass all of the daily tests of living within it.

How do I know if I can afford an interior designer?

The reality is that interior design is a luxury service. Anyone can get on Wayfair or Amazon and find a piece of furniture that will be both cheap and quick to arrive. An interior designer will look at your space as an entity and create a holistic design to fit both the home and your own personality. We have access to manufacturers and pieces of furniture that the general public does not, and we consider quality over other factors. Interior design is not “design on a dime”, nor is it a quick turnaround service. That being said, our expertise and relationships within the design community will ensure that the time and money spent will be well worth it in the end.

How can I speed things up in the design process?

The quickest way to speed up the design process is to be communicative and decisive. The more open and expressive our clients are about what they want and don’t want, the easier the initial design process will be.

However, outside of that, we caution clients against trying to “rush” the design. Creative processes take time, and your end result will be more successful if that time is allowed. Once the actual design is completed and selections are made and ordered, there are a number of mitigating factors that can hold up a project including vendor lead-times, freight delays, construction hold-ups, etc. Your patience during the process will pay off ten-fold in the end when your home is finally exactly as you dreamt it to be!
